Tanzanian uranium production nears

Uranium production in Tanzania has moved one step closer for South Africa's Mantra Resources and Australia's Uranex NL after they met all environmental conditions mandated by the National Environment Management Council.

The East African reported that Tanzania's minister for energy and minerals, William Ngeleja, has said that two companies will begin mining uranium in the country in the next three years. Mantra expects to complete a prefeasibility study anytime now for its Mkuju River project in southern Tanzania, ahead of the awarding and commencement of a full feasibility study. Meanwhile, Uranex is hoping to develop its Bahi project in central Tanzania.
